Local News in Brief : Mugger of Elderly Sought
Beverly Hills police are looking for a mugger or muggers who three times in the last month have robbed elderly residents of diamond rings as they walked from their cars to their homes.
“We’ve had three separate daytime incidents where elderly victims, both male and female, have been robbed as they have arrived home at their carports or garage,” said Beverly Hills Police Lt. Robert Curtis. “They get slugged over the back of their head, and when they regain their consciousness, or composure, they find the diamond ring on their finger is missing.”
All three victims were robbed as they returned from errands outside Beverly Hills, Curtis said. He speculated that the assailant spotted the victims at a shop and then followed them home.
