Share

Local government agencies that come into contact with large numbers of unregistered citizens have been instructed by Secretary of State March Fong Eu to serve as voter registration distribution outlets.

In a letter to all county boards of supervisors, Eu said that all county offices having frequent contact with the public must display signs or posters announcing the availability of voter registration cards in their offices.

Eu said she also was sending letters to the 147,000 notaries public commissioned by the Secretary of State, designating them voter registration card distributors. Notaries who are employed privately are encouraged but not mandated to provide such cards, she said.
