Anti-Graffiti Bill Is Sent to Governor
Children could not buy or carry around small cans of spray paint under an anti-graffiti bill sent to the governor Wednesday.
The law now makes it a misdemeanor for a minor to possess an aerosol paint can larger than 6 ounces or for anyone to sell such a can to a minor. The bill would extend that law to smaller cans.
The penalty for someone selling a can to a child would be a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
The bill would specify that a child could use an aerosol paint can of 6 ounces or less under supervision of a parent, guardian, instructor or employer.
The bill, by Assemblyman Richard Katz (D-Sepulveda), was given final approval by the Assembly on a 57-6 vote.
