Charles R. Morris’ “A World of Fire Sales” (Opinion, Aug. 21) gives a much-needed perspective on who really wins a war.

According to his figures, arms dealers received $40,000 for each life taken in the Iran-Iraq war.

How long before we awaken to the truth that wars are generated by and fought for the benefit of the makers and distributors of munitions?
