Vice President Nominee Quayle

Of all the disasters in the news recently, none was so chilling as the report of Sen. Dan Quayle’s speech on defense, arms control and foreign policy (“Quayle Remarks Appear to Bewilder Audience,” Part I, Sept. 9). The accuracy of the report was confirmed when I heard him deliver the speech on TV.

More frightening than what he was trying to say was the fact that he was unable to say it. His sentences literally made no sense. Discussing the most serious topics of our time, the man was talking gibberish.

Quayle in the White House would be a threat to the security of the United States. The mere possibility of such a catastrophe compels my vote for Michael Dukakis.
