Local News in Brief : Eu Makes Appeal to Unregistered Voters
Secretary of State March Fong Eu and representatives of 74 corporations, unions, businesses and organizations meeting in Burbank called on the state’s unregistered voters to make Tuesday a successful Voter Registration Day.
“If you are alive, awake and breathing today, it is going to be difficult to avoid having the opportunity to register to vote,” Eu said, adding that there are 6.4 million people in the state who are eligible but did not register to cast ballots in the June primary.
Citing a long list of local voter registration points, Eu said that more than 40,000 sites throughout California had registration forms or could tell people how to get the form.
“If you . . . enter any one of thousands of businesses, you have an excellent chance of being informed of my toll-free voter registration hot line or being offered a voter registration form,” Eu said. “I urge those who are not registered to do so today. It couldn’t be easier.”
The toll-free number is 1-800-345-VOTE.
