The World : Drug Rings Clash; 12 Die

Share

Fresh violence in the war between Colombia’s rival drug-smuggling rings for control of the New York cocaine market apparently resulted in 12 deaths and six kidnapings in the Medellin area this weekend, police said. Several bodies were found with hand-written notes pinned on them saying, “For collaborating with the Cartel of Cali.” Police said they were apparently executed by killers from the Medellin cartel, the powerful drug-smuggling ring. Police also suspected drug ring violence in the other incidents. The brutal war between drug lords of Medellin and Cali has claimed nearly 100 lives this year, police said.
