Alpharel Reports Loss of $2.2 Million for Quarter

Alpharel, the struggling computer software company, reported a $2.2-million loss on sales of $1.68 million for its third quarter that ended Sept. 30. In the third quarter last year, the Camarillo-based company posted a $51,000 profit on sales of nearly $5 million.

Alpharel’s fortunes have been reeling since a major contract it had with AT & T to help supply a computer data storage system to the Defense Department expired. The company has had a changeover in its executive suite and is struggling to build up new orders.

For the nine months, the company posed an $8.5-million loss on sales of $3.1 million. Last year in the same period, the company lost $244,000 on sales of $10.7 million.
