Local News in Brief : Water Main Bursts in North Hollywood
An estimated 10,000 gallons of water gushed from a burst water main Tuesday, some of it into a North Hollywood street, authorities said.
The 8-inch-wide main beneath the intersection of Cahuenga Boulevard and Holly Crest Drive, near the Barham Boulevard off-ramp of the Hollywood Freeway, broke about 4:30 a.m., said Department of Water and Power spokesman Ed Freudenburg.
The DWP was alerted to the break by area homeowners who reported a drop in water pressure inside their houses, Freudenburg said. DWP crews capped the leak by 6 a.m., and the broken section was replaced, he said.
There were no reports of damage to private property in the area.
