Fire Burns 2,000 Houses

LEGASPI, Philippines —
A fire Tuesday razed an entire town in the central Philippines, burning down 2,000 houses, killing three people and leaving more than 12,000 people homeless, authorities said. The blaze began at 9 a.m. and raged the whole day, razing the town of Piotaran, about 210 miles southeast of Manila.
