Fresno State Beats UCLA, 2-0
Junior right-hander Carrie Dever pitched a one-hitter and Fresno State scored twice in the fourth inning on an error and a single to beat UCLA, 2-0, in a nonconference women’s softball game Sunday at Fresno.
An NCAA regular season record crowd of 3,328 saw the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs (5-0) hand the top-ranked Bruins (9-1) their first defeat in a rematch of the 1988 NCAA championship game won by UCLA.
The Bruins’ only hit was a two-out single in the sixth inning by third baseman Janice Parks.
