Newport Beach : Celebrity Golf Classic Scheduled for Monday

The second annual Miller Lite-Efrain Herrera Celebrity Golf Classic to raise scholarship money for Latino college-bound students will be held Monday at Newport Beach Country Club.

Last year, the tournament raised $30,000 that was awarded to 19 Orange County youths who were attending or planning to attend a four-year college, according to Superior Court Judge Manuel A. Ramirez, who co-founded the scholarship fund with Herrera, a former star kicker for the Dallas Cowboys.

Registration and a continental breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. There will be a banquet and show beginning at 5:30 p.m. A $250 donation to take part in the golf tournament includes green fees, cart, prizes, awards banquet and show. For more information, call (714) 681-7188.
