Lolita Under Wraps
There’s lots of curiosity about Lolita Davidovich--the unknown who snared the part of stripper Blaze Starr opposite Paul Newman in Touchstone’s “Blaze.” But don’t look for a burst of publicity about her until closer to the pic’s December release.
The reason: since Newman’s expected to do little/no press, Touchstone’s banking on Davidovich to tease the public.
The actress--who’s had bit parts in pics including “Big Town” and “Adventures in Babysitting”--was in New York for interviews with Vogue, Harper’s and Premiere that will run late this year. In the works: a possible Rolling Stone piece.
The real Blaze, who runs a bar in Baltimore, is also expected to participate in the film’s hype, said a rep for Disney, Touchstone’s parent company. So is writer/director Ron Shelton.
But the heat’s on Davidovich--”a major discovery,” according to producer Dale Pollack.
So what’s the major discovery up to since completing “Blaze”?
“She hasn’t signed to do anything yet,” said the Disney rep. “She’s taking it slow and careful.”
