Television with a past, present and future...

Television with a past, present and future touch comes to the small screen this week.

The past is represented by new half-hour episodes of the old adventure series, “Lassie.” The syndicated show about a family and its beloved collie airs Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 9. Youngsters Wendy Cox and Will Nipper flank Lassie on the cover.

Come Saturday, the late-night time slot for “It’z Fritz,” a new KNBC-TV comedy/variety series hosted by weatherman and stand-up comic Fritz Coleman, will be from 1 to 2 a.m. on Channel 4. Guests on the opener are “Saturday Night Live” regular Kevin Nealon, rock group Transvision Vamp and comedienne Diane Nichols.

The future--1995 Los Angeles, to be precise--provides the setting for “Alien Nation,” the new Fox Broadcasting series airing Mondays at 9 p.m. on Channels 11 and 6.
