Todd Bridges Faces New Trial on Assault Count

Share

Actor Todd Bridges, who was recently acquitted in Los Angeles Superior Court on charges of attempted murder and attempted voluntary manslaughter, is facing retrial on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon in the shooting of a convicted Texas drug dealer.

Deputy Dist. Atty. William Hodgman refiled the assault charge against Bridges, 24, on Tuesday. A hearing was set for Jan. 25 to schedule a new trial date for the former child actor, who portrayed the elder brother on the “Diff’rent Strokes” television series.

Jurors acquitted Bridges earlier this month on two charges in the shooting of Kenneth (Tex) Clay, 25, in a South-Central Los Angeles rock cocaine house, but they deadlocked 8 to 4 in favor of not guilty on the assault charge.
