From Times Wire Services

United Airlines said today it will cut fares between New York, Boston and Los Angeles and other cities in the continental United States except those in Arizona, Florida and Nevada.

The fares, based on the number of miles traveled, must be bought 14 days in advance and include a Saturday night stay. Tickets must be purchased by Jan. 31 and are valid through March 6.

United said the fares are to compete with direct-mail promotions offered by other carriers that include coupons that can be redeemed for reduced fare tickets.
