MEN’S BASKETBALL

Tim Rapp scored 22 points to lead UC San Diego to a 107-92 nonconference victory over visiting Dominican. Joe Lindsay scored 18 points and had 13 rebounds for UCSD (17-4). UCSD, which shot 65% from the floor in the first half, led 60-39 at halftime.

Dominican was led by Steve Whitely with 29 points and Adrian Jackson with 23.

UCSD, ranked 14th in NCAA Division III, will play at Menlo Friday.

WOMAN’S TENNIS

U.S. International, after losing at No. 1 and 2 singles, won every other match to defeat visiting Fresno State, 7-2. Carol Curmi defeated Jandrea Ouwendijk, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 3 for USIU, 4-4. USIU’s Sarit Shalev defeated Valarie Stukovsky, 1-6, 6-4, 7-5. Fresno State dropped to 3-4.

BASEBALL

Bill Dunckel, a junior transfer from Palomar Community College, tripled with the bases loaded in the seventh to drive in three runs and lead San Diego State (2-1) to a 6-4 victory over visiting Cal Poly Pomona (1-4). Andy Peterson (1-0) came on in relief in the seventh to pick up the victory.
