PerfectData Corp. Profit Down 84% in 3rd Quarter

PerfectData Corp. reported net income of $4,000 for the fiscal third quarter that ended Dec. 31, down 84% from $25,000 in net income a year earlier. The Simi Valley company, which makes products for cleaning and maintaining computer equipment, said revenues declined 3% to $938,000 from $966,000.

The company said the decline in earnings in the latest quarter reflected costs associated with launching a new line of devices that hold copy for computer users.

For the nine months that ended Dec. 31, PerfectData reported $7,000 in earnings, compared to a loss of $24,000 in the year-earlier period. Revenues rose to $2.7 million from $2.6 million.
