4 Injured as RTD Bus Rams Car on Freeway
A RTD bus slammed into the back of a car on the San Bernardino Freeway in West Covina Friday, sending it into a roll and injuring the car’s driver and three bus passengers, authorities said.
The driver, Nick Veronica, 30, of El Monte, was in good condition at Queen of the Valley Hospital; the bus passengers were treated and released.
The bus was westbound when it slammed into the car about 4:55 p.m., a spokeswoman for the West Covina Fire Department said. The collision pushed the car through a freeway barrier and sent it rolling over several times before coming to rest on North Garvey Avenue, parallel to the freeway. Veronica was thrown out and trapped under the car until two tow trucks pulled it off of him about 5:30 p.m.
