WORLD IN BRIEF : ISRAEL : Violence Flares as Curfews Are Eased

The Israeli military lifted weeklong curfews in parts of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, but violence flared within hours, resulting in the death of one Palestinian and the wounding of 14 others. The outbreak came a week after seven Gaza workers were killed when an Israeli described as deranged opened fire on them. That sparked a wave of violence that left 15 Palestinians dead.
