Motorola Wins Lower Court Stay: Motorola Inc. said a federal appeals court stayed a lower court injunction barring sales of microprocessors made by Motorola and by Hitachi Ltd. that were the subject of a patent infringement suit. Motorola and Hitachi jointly requested the stay and have announced an agreement in principle that will serve as the framework for negotiating an out-of-court settlement of their dispute, which involves the Motorola 68030 microprocessor and the Hitachi H8/532 microcontroller. A federal judge in Texas barred both sides from selling certain microprocessors while the matter was under consideration.
