Limiting Sales of Spray Paint to Curb Graffiti

Share

It was a pleasure to see the clear stand against graffiti in your July 4th editorial (“Paint the Town and Make It Mad”). However, the writer was not clear as to why state Sen. Art Torres’ (D-Los Angeles) proposed ban against non-commercial sales of spray paint would be “unfair to the manufacturers.” Many industries are affected by laws that serve the greater good. Most spray paint manufacturers and retailers have done little to fight this visual plague. Why should we give them any sympathy?

Spray paint is a convenience product. We can live without it.
