Jim Bakker Yet to Pay Any of $500,000 Fines
Former millionaire preacher Jim Bakker hasn’t paid a dime of the $500,000 in fines assessed last year, and officials said Monday they may attach the 11 cents an hour he now earns cleaning prison toilets.
U.S. Atty. Tom Ashcraft said the government will pursue every means to make Bakker pay up.
Bakker, 50, is serving a 45-year prison sentence at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, Minn., for his conviction on 24 counts of fraud and conspiracy stemming from the way he raised and spent money at PTL. He was also ordered to pay $500,000 in fines but is appealing both the conviction and the sentence.
