SHORT TAKES : $260,000 Stolen at Kids Concert
From Times Wire Services
MONTREAL —
Three robbers made off with $260,000 in cash from souvenir sales at a New Kids on the Block concert, police said.
Police spokesman Jacques Morrisseau said the robbers, armed with revolvers and a bogus hand grenade, entered a room in Olympic Stadium where 12 employees were counting money Sunday after a show by the teen-age pop group.
The robbers handcuffed the employees and placed the fake grenade near a door, warning that the device would explode if someone tried to open the door.
