Tension (TNT Monday at 1 p.m.): A nifty 1949 film noir directed by John Berry and starring Richard Basehart as a man intent on murdering his wife’s lover. Fine cast includes Audrey Totter, Cyd Charisse and Barry Sullivan. (2:00)

Alice Adams (Disney Monday at 9 p.m., again at 4 a.m.): An upbeat Hollywood ending does not seriously detract from George Stevens’ splendid 1935 film of the Booth Tarkington novel in which Katharine Hepburn is heartbreaking as a small-town social climber. (2:00)

A Month in the Country (Bravo Wednesday at 5 p.m., again at 10:30 p.m.): This subtle, intelligent British period drama is set in the countryside in 1919, and it follows a pivotal month in the lives of two returning World War I soldiers (Colin Firth, Kenneth Branagh). Complex and multilayered, it requires a taste for understatement. (1:36)

Crossover Dreams (Bravo Thursday at 8 p.m.): This 1985 salsa musical-drama has humor, passion, color, sex and heart. Its writer-composer, Ruben Blades, also stars in this tale of the rise and fall of an ambitious young salsa musician. (1:30)
