Assigning Blame on Budget Mess
Kudos to Kevin Phillips (Opinion, Sept. 30), a very perceptive writer who eloquently describes the GOP and the Reagan/Bush administrations for what they are: a combination that is leading this country down a path toward a two-class society of haves and have-nots where the rich get richer and the poor (with a faster-growing population) get poorer.
Phillips’ calling the Democratic leadership “feckless,” a word seldom used albeit very descriptive, meaning weak, ineffective, careless and irresponsible, drives home the point that they have forgotten why they were elected and have become self-serving and greedy.
The policies followed by Reagan/Bush and the Republican Party have already pushed the self-destruct button of America’s financial well-being. We are well on the way toward total economic ruin, and one can only wonder how far it will go before we even start to recover.
