Printronix Net Income, Sales Drop in Second Fiscal Quarter

Printronix Inc., the Irvine manufacturer of computer printers, reported that net income fell to $201,000 for the second fiscal quarter, from $1.2 million for the corresponding quarter in 1989. Sales for the quarter ended Sept. 28 declined 13%, to $27.9 million from $31.9 million.

First-half net income nearly doubled, to $1.2 million from $630,000. Sales were down 6%, to $57.6 million from $61.1 million.

Printronix said the lower sales levels reflect a persistent weakness in the North American market created by a general industry downturn and economic recession.
