Japanese Work Rules

Share

Watching the rice exhibition issue unfold earlier this month has made it abundantly clear: The Japanese are not concerned with any equalization of trade. The article on the GE Medical scandal (March 18) also makes clear that they will not stand for the success of a foreign company on their own turf playing by their rules.

The facts are we cannot even export something as simple as rice to Japan. They call it a crucial national resource, a part of their culture. People, wake up. This hypocrisy is what we are up against. The claim that increased barriers will work against the consumer is a fraud. If you don’t have a job, or your standard of living decreases to a point where you can’t afford the products that you are buying today, it won’t matter.

There is another war going on. An economic war against us. Fair competition is one thing; I’m all for it. The problem is that only one side is playing by those rules.
