The “A’s bandit” struck again Thursday, robbing two banks in north San Diego within two hours and taking an undetermined amount of money from each, authorities said.

The robberies were the bandit’s 19th and 20th, and mark the first time he has struck twice in a single day.

The Security Pacific Bank branch at 3535 Del Mar Heights Road was hit about 10:35 a.m. Then, at noon, he robbed the Security Pacific branch at 8813 Villa La Jolla Drive, San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

In each of the robberies, the bandit handed the teller a note saying he was carrying a gun, but didn’t display one, Robinson said.

The A’s bandit is described as a young, white man weighing 150 to 165 pounds, 5-foot-8 to 6-foot, with reddish-brown hair.

He was wearing blue jeans, a yellow and blue plaid shirt and sunglasses, and holding a blue bag similar to a backpack, Robinson said. But he wasn’t wearing his Oakland A’s baseball cap, which gave him his nickname.
