PHILIPPINES: The island nation registered a positive trade balance with only six of 40 countries last year, but one of those six was the United States, according to the Bureau of Export and Trade Promotions. The country overall reported a trade deficit of $3.7 billion, but registered the highest positive balance--$603 million--with the United States. The Philippines also had positive trade balances with Great Britain, the Netherlands, Thailand, Spain and Panama.
