George Luntz was named to the newly created position of chief operating officer of Scanning Management Systems, a Canoga Park developer of computer software for electronic scanning equipment.

Luntz previously was president of Mini-Computer Business Applications Inc. in Glendale. Scanning Management is a unit of BellSouth Corp., a regional telecommunications holding company based in Atlanta.
