Campeau Sues Its Founder: The Toronto-based retail holding company has filed suit against Robert Campeau to recover about $12.7 million in interest-free loans, as well as paintings and other corporate property he used while chairman. In two suits the company seeks the repayment of two defaulted loans, which were made in 1989 and came due earlier this year. The company also seeks the return of corporate possessions made available to Campeau before his ouster as chairman and chief executive last August. Those items include several paintings, two automobiles and telephone equipment, valued at about $1.5 million. Campeau remains a director of the company.
