Mandatory Helmet Law

Share

In response to your editorial “More Than Just Cyclists’ Safety” (May 21):

I ride a motorcycle to and from work every day. Maybe I should wear a helmet--that way, when a motorist talking on a cellular phone, putting on makeup, or reading the paper decides to cut me off, I’ll be better prepared to hit the pavement.

When will state governments begin to give benefits to motorcycle riders: use of diamond lanes, better highways (have you driven the 101 lately?), and most important, mandatory motorcycle awareness.

I’d rather move to New Mexico than sit in rush-hour traffic with a helmet, breathing fumes from a 100 million Los Angeles drivers.
