Jaime Escalante Leaves Garfield
The Los Angeles Unified School District was unable to retain the services of Escalante. This is attributed to his aloofness, habit of working long hours and the resentment and envy of his fellow teachers.
Is the district sending the message that one is expected to attain the norm of mediocrity in teaching and excellence will not be tolerated?
