OXNARD : Farmers Market Cookbook Planned

Officials of Oxnard’s Farmers Market plan to collect enough recipes featuring ingredients from the market to put together a cookbook.

“Any recipe that features ingredients sold at the market, like vegetables, dried fruits, nuts or eggs, is eligible,” said market Manager Ruth Bernstein.

Recipe categories include breakfasts, appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, desserts and snacks, Bernstein said.

Recipes will be collected through the summer and published sometime this fall.

“We want the cookbook to reflect the flavor of Oxnard, with recipes from the local residents. Even the farmers said they would contribute,” Bernstein said.

The market, located at the corner of 7th and B streets, has been open since last month.
