MR. JONES’ MAKE-OVER

I was very concerned about the tone and insinuations in “Remaking Mr. Jones.”

First, it is implied that those who do not display or possess what society deems as normal physical traits are “abnormal” and unworthy.

Second, the article illustrates society’s disrespect for those individuals who have a disability. How depressing to think that society drove Jones to painful and tedious reconstructive surgery.

Why should an individual have to physically change to be given better opportunities and basic respect?
