Proposal to Register Guns

Re “Gun Watch: Stemming the Tide,” editorial, Nov. 6:

Again, I see The Times supporting the call for unilateral personal disarmament. This proposal, if it becomes law, would do nothing to stem the tide of gang-related shootings. All this seems to be is another way to make legal gun owners jump through more hoops.

I own a few handguns, and enjoy indoor and outdoor shooting. I am a responsible gun owner, and maintain that handguns are best for home defense. Last year, at 4:30 a.m., two men broke into our family car and attempted to steal everything. My wife and I were able to stop them. One got away, but we held the other for over 40 minutes until the police arrived. Please stop trying to disarm law-abiding people.
