Local News Prevails: Republican presidential candidate Patrick J. Buchanan got bumped from an appearance on KFI earlier this week after the station’s general manager decided to stay with local issues in the aftermath of the Los Angeles riots. “It wasn’t particularly out of concern about Pat Buchanan’s viewpoint politically but it was more toward trying to heal the feelings and the hurt that transpired over the last four or five days. . . . I thought to talk about national issues when we were in a local crisis would have been inappropriate,” said Howard Neal. Buchanan had been scheduled to appear on Tom Leykis’ afternoon call-in show on Monday.
