With Design in Mind Posts Increased 2nd-Quarter Loss

With Design in Mind International Inc., a Chatsworth company that sells novelty gift items and toys, saw its loss widen to $1.27 million in its fiscal second quarter that ended March 31, while sales plunged 48% to $352,357.

A year earlier, With Design lost $295,469 on sales of $677,607.

In its latest six-month period, With Design lost $1.53 million, in contrast with a loss of $258,775 the year before. Its revenue rose 39% to $2.38 million from $1.71 million.

The company attributed the second-quarter and six-month losses to the sluggish economy and the continuing effects of a shortage of working capital in 1990 and 1991.
