Pomona : Anti-Gang March Planned
Students, parents and community organizations concerned about gang violence and drug abuse will stage a March for Peace on Friday.
Linda Bustos of Community Action for Peace, one of the sponsoring groups, said about 1,000 participants are expected for the march along Holt and Garey avenues, which will start at 3 p.m. in four locations and culminate with a rally at the Civic Center.
Gang experts, students and community leaders will speak at the rally, which Bustos said is designed to let everyone know that there are people who are concerned about drugs and gang violence and trying to do something about it.
The starting points are Garfield Park and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, on Holt Avenue, and Garey High School and Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, on Garey Avenue.
