Naming Names: Touchstone Pictures announced Thursday that it has purchased an original screenplay by Steve Martin in which he will play the leading role. The film, titled “Twist of Fate,” is described as a drama with comic overtones. Martin last year starred in Touchstone’s hit “Father of the Bride.” . . . Filmmaker John Singleton is going to be a contributing editor for the hip-hop lifestyle magazine the Source. Singleton, 24, got an Oscar nomination for his first film, “Boyz N the Hood.” . . . Bruce Beresford, who directed the Oscar-winning “Driving Miss Daisy,” has been hired by Morgan Creek Productions to direct “Indian Summer,” a mystery about a psychiatrist who tries to unravel a murder through the only witness, an autistic boy.
