Taiwan Convicts Dissident

TAIPEI, Taiwan —
George Chang, chairman of World United Formosans for Independence, Taiwan’s largest dissident group, was convicted Monday of masterminding a 1977 bomb attack that crippled the island’s governor, Shieh Tung-min. Chang, 56, was sentenced to five years in prison.
