* Laurel Patric, assistant director of the Glendale Public Library, was recently named acting director after the resignation of Susan C. Curzon.

Patric, a 23-year Glendale resident, started with the library in 1970 as children’s librarian at the Casa Verdugo branch. Before becoming assistant director, she was administrator of branches. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Redlands and a master’s degree in library science from Immaculate Heart College.

Curzon resigned to become dean of the university library at Cal State Northridge.

* Laurice Brown was installed Monday as president of the Glendale Regional Arts Council. Brown is an administrative assistant in the internal communications department with Nestle U.S.A. She is the daughter of Kathryn B. Hull, a co-founder of the Arts Council.

* Ramon Barragan, owner and founder of Barragan’s Mexican Restaurant in Echo Park, was recently honored as an outstanding small-business person by State Assemblyman Richard G. Polanco (D-Los Angeles.)

The restaurant has been in Echo Park for 32 years.
