‘Love’ in Santa Barbara: A. R. Gurney’s “Love Letters” will open a three-week engagement July 7 in Santa Barbara under a new alliance between the Pasadena Playhouse and the Lobero Theatre. Lynn Redgrave and John Clark will be stars for the opening week, July 7-12. Martin Sheen and Trish Van Devere take over July 14-19, followed by Barbara Rush and Tom Troupe, July 21-26. Pasadena Playhouse also has a new partnership with Poway Center in San Diego’s North County and will launch that alliance by sending the musical revue “Closer Than Ever” there for four performances, July 7-10. Meanwhile, back in Pasadena, the Playhouse will hold a vintage block party/birthday carnival next Thursday from 7 to 11 p.m. as part of its 75th anniversary celebration.
