LINK TO YOUTH: Time capsules, too often lost when careful records aren’t kept (E1), can be an important bond with the past. In Anaheim, for example, officials planted a time capsule at its historic Mother Colony House in 1957, its centennial year, to be opened in 2057. It contained “100 years of history” and was dedicated “to the youth of Anaheim.” . . . City history curator Mary Lou Begert says: “They mark a city’s sense of its roots, and show it has a sense of its future.”
