Deputizing Citizens

Polsby’s idea of “auxiliary peace officers” has a great deal of merit to it. The U.S. government spent thousands of dollars on me (and thousands like myself) in the instruction of how to use various types of weapons while serving in the armed forces.

There are few military veterans who would be intimidated by street criminals if we could confront these individuals on their terms. Slugging it out through elephant grass and rice paddies with a trained and experienced enemy ready to take immediate issue with your presence is intimidating.

Ex-military vets could provide an immediate source as “auxiliary peace officers.” They are trained, disciplined and decisive. They are also fed up with fighting wars to protect our country and keep it free from tyranny only to see street criminals terrorizing from within. Who is running this show anyway?
