NEWPORT BEACH : Kemp to Get Award From County Group

Share

Jack Kemp, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, will receive an award next month from the local Community Housing organization for his efforts to provide affordable housing for people across the United States.

About 1,000 local developers, philanthropists and corporate executives are expected to attend the fund-raising dinner, which is being sponsored by the newly formed Newport Beach-based group.

The event will focus on the need for fair and affordable housing nationwide and Kemp’s contribution to that goal, said Jillyn Hess, legal counsel for the organization.

Community Housing, which was formed earlier this year, is a conglomeration of developers, representatives of charitable organizations and property managers who aim to resolve the shortage of affordable housing in Orange County.

Kemp will receive the organization’s first Housing Humanitarian Award on June 12 at the SportsClub/Irvine, 1980 Main St.
