Gunman, 11, Admits Robbery to Fund Trip
Associated Press
DENVER —
An 11-year-old boy pleaded guilty to robbing a grocery store with a handgun to get money for a school field trip.
He said he took his mother’s gun from under a mattress and stole $8 from store owner Dien Pham on May 4--short of the $10 he needed for the trip. Pham then followed the boy to his school, where the student ran up to a teacher and asked him not to let Pham shoot him.
The youth could be put on probation or placed in a juvenile detention facility.
