Datron Systems Profit Down 24% in 4th Quarter

Datron Systems Inc., which has been restructuring in the last year, reported a 24% drop in its fiscal fourth-quarter profit on a 28% decline in sales.

In the quarter ended March 31, the Simi Valley supplier of telecommunications and radio equipment earned $290,000, down from $403,000 a year earlier. Its sales fell to $13.26 million from $17.52 million.

With the latest results, Datron’s net loss in its fiscal year ended March 31 totaled $8.4 million on sales of $54.1 million. The loss included an after-tax charge of $8 million for streamlining and restructuring in its fiscal third quarter. By contrast, in the previous fiscal year the company had a profit of $3.46 million on sales of $73 million.
