Foreman’s Camp Apparently Already Looking Past Morrison

George Foreman keeps saying his Monday night pay-per-view match here with Tommy Morrison is “probably” his last fight, win or lose.

But his manager, Ron Weathers, says he is working on an October “George Foreman Farewell” show in Houston--Foreman’s hometown--and that the likely opponent will be Alex Garcia of San Fernando.

It has also been learned that Olympic champion Oscar De La Hoya of Montebello will get a world championship opportunity in October at the Forum against Genaro Hernandez, the World Boxing Assn.’s junior-lightweight champion.

De La Hoya, who grew up in East Los Angeles, and Hernandez, who grew up in South-Central Los Angeles and now lives in Mission Viejo, would be matched in a “Battle for L.A.,” according to Forum spokesman John Beyrooty, who predicted the match would draw 12,000 to 14,000.

De La Hoya must beat Troy Dorsey on Monday on the Foreman-Morrison show and then defeat Narciso Valenzuela on July 17. And Hernandez must beat Raul Perez in a June 28 Forum title bout.
